As one of the oldest Medical Scientist Training (MST) programs in its own right, Duke is also unique based on its curriculum. Students at Duke MSTP join their medical school classmates in completion of all required basic science courses and core clinical rotations prior to pursuing research in the 3rd year.

Duke MST program at its heart has several features which have for years been valued by students of the program: it is one of the most diverse in the country in terms of personal, academic, and ethnic backgrounds, breadth of graduate studies, and future career goals. As future leaders in medicine, research, and beyond, the academic freedom allowed at this program has served to catapult our students into exciting areas of research and later into the most competitive residencies.

We, as alumni from undergraduate institutions all over the country, have found a home here at Duke, and we hope that you will use this opportunity to learn more about our program.

Best of luck as you prepare for medical school and MD/PhD programs.
